I posted a while back about Sean Bones’s small boutique label S/S Friends and while checking out some of Sean’s new music I stumbled upon this trailer for ‘Wah Do Dem’. The new indie film, in which Sean plays the lead role, follows a hapless guy named Max (Sean) who wins two cruise tickets, but gets dumped and has to go on the trip alone. Max spends a week on a Senior Citizen’s cruise before getting robbed and lost in Jamaica during his day trip there. Somewhere along the way, he gets taken in and sees the ‘real Jamaica’. The trailer looks beautiful and feels refreshing, partly because of the beautiful Jamaican landscape & the underlying theme of discovery. The film ‘Wah Do Dem’ premieres at the LA Film Festival on June 20th & 24th so if you are in the area don’t miss it! Additionally Sean Bone’s first full length album is set to release July 21st on French Kiss Records and I don’t doubt that it’ll become a late summer staple for beach days and BBQs.

A friend of mine just returned home from a surf trip just last week and was sharing some action shots with me…and then I saw this shot, one he took with an old film camera. I can’t explain how psyched I was on this shot along with a couple of other film flicks he shot. This feels like it was yanked straight from the pages of Surfer Magazine era 1973…but in fact it was snapped just over a week ago…Enjoy

SXSW Interactive & Film are just about wrapping up and musicians from around the globe are dragging their guitar cases and stage egos into Austin, Texas this week. I’ve enjoyed following quite a number of Twitter friends this past week, all of whom have been traipsing around Austin attending countless panel discussions, film screenings, conversations, happy hours & parties (All part of the interactive/film sectors of SXSW) ! Its actually been an exhausting task to try and keep up with their hourly (sometimes more frequently) tweets which included brilliant quotes, drunken rants, photos & over heard conversations…Truly entertaining in the strangest way. I wish I would have been there! At any rate…while most of the film and tech geeks recharge their phones, pack their luggage & find their way home, the indie kids are just getting ready to light fire to Austin…or so I’ve heard…A number of friends will be playing this week so if you happen to be in Texas or are just looking for some new music, please check them out!

Well known designer/illustrator Damien Correll has been compiling a number of mixtapes under the title Heard & Not Seen. Just last week I listened through each mix without once wanting to reach for the next track click (and I’ve often got a case of the ADD while listening to music). Good news for you, it is Thursday (the last day before Friday!) and there is a brand new mixtape thanks to Heard & Not Seen, appropriately titled ‘The Big Warm Up’…After a big snow storm and expectations of temperatures hitting 60+ this weekend this is just what your ears need right now! On a side note the art for the mixtapes is just great!

Vu Skate Shop in Baltimore, owned by my good friends Chris Donmoyer & Gary Smith, was recently featured on FuelTV. I was down in Baltimore to help Gary & Chris paint, buff the floors, & open up shop! A little painting I did on a door inside the shop got into a little clip in the feature so take a look!

My friend Sean of Sam Champion and his girlfriend Sarah have launched a small collection called FRIENDS.
