Keelay!

Over 4 years ago I met a kid named Kyle. He lived in a place in Allston, which I eventually ended up living in two years later. At any rate, I met Kyle because we would go to his place to PaRtY! The interesting thing was that it was usually his roommates throwing the parties, and as they raged on Kyle would usually be in his room making music. Not in an anti-social way, but in a inspiring (I need to rage it on this kiddie xylophone right now!) manner. Long story short, I lost touch with Kyle when he moved down to New York. A few months ago I got a random online request for an official friendship bid, and guess who it was!? You guessed it, Keelay. I thought, who the hell is Keelay? I don’t know this person and I haven’t dipped to accepted random friend requests without a nice message to accompany them. Turns out Kyle is Keelay! One thing led to another and before I knew it I was catching up with Keelay and all of his recent projects! Keelay is killin’ it on a number of levels! Music, Video, Poetry, Blogging…you name it! Snail Mail and Stuff

So every once and a while I think about technology, the internet, and cellphones. I wonder when there is going to be a complete rejection of it all. Do you ever think a group of people would ditch their cellphones and just operate land-line style? I’ve joked with friends about ditching my phone and just lurking on a specific street corner everyday from 4-5pm…if you need me you know where to find me. Its no small task but how fun would that be! Imagine how much you’d see/experience!

Airmail Letter

I’ve had a broken screen on my cellphone for the past two months and its funny how its changed the way I use my phone. My battery dies often, When I get a text message I just call the sender (and usually handle business rather than finger poking for an hour to accomplish what a two minute phone call does), and I call people by accident, which is rather fun.

Speaking of fun, remember how much fun it is to get a good piece of mail. Yes, mail, delivered by a mail man to the mailbox, outside of your house! Seeing that e-mail, myspace, phone calls and all that jazz are just so damn fast and easy sending real mail is actually kind of punk. That extra effort which goes into sending mail also makes it more meaningful. So…where am I going with this? Well, I want to send more mail so if you’d like some mail drop me your address and I’ll try and send you something…whether or not I know you I’ll do my best to buy a stamp and send something along!

***On a side note I’m going to try and blog about some interesting stuff a bit more often rather than just blogging about what I’m doing. So check back and hopefully you’ll find some good stuff! And oh yes…I hope to update the Work section, because its gone damn stale!

Las Vegas! Uhhh?

I just got back from Vegas! I was out there for the Magic Fashion & Apparel Trade Show. Non-stop three days of looking, thinking, talking, walking, with some gambling, eating, and drinking on top. The last night of the trip didn’t end until I boarded a plane headed east. Special thanks to Shawn at the Playboy Club & GhostClub, Nick and the gang over at Obey, and Bill at Beandip Clothing for some good times…

Ty Dug and Madness!

Originally uploaded by bienworld

Holy cow! Life is great. People make it great! A few weeks ago I spent the day with Ty Williams and Dug Desjardin. I met up with them at Grain Surfboards in Maine. From there we cruised to Portland to a new surf art boutique called Corduroy. After hanging out for a bit we headed back to York and paddled out. It was my first chance to surf a Grain Surfboard and damn was it fun. Carrying that big wooden stick down to the beach wasn’t easy but once it was on top of the water it was surely worth it! I grabbed this photo of Dug and his car off of Ty’s flickr page. Check out both of their art work at Ty Paints!

R.I.P. Mr. Butch

For those of you who don’t know Butch, he was an icon in and outside of Boston, MA for at least the past twenty years, spending most of him time on the streets. Sadly, Mr. Butch passed away early yesterday following an accident while riding his new red Vespa. Last time I saw Butch he was sitting on his new ride on Harvard Ave. enjoying an afternoon PBR Tall Boy. He told me he had just bought the Vespa a few weeks earlier after working the streets for seven months. I remember a local friend passing by and reminding Butch not to drive his red beauty unless he had not been drinking. Most of my close friends know that I was always a fan of Mr. Butch (Mayor of Allston).

Paparazzi in NYC!

I caught a super fun show in Brooklyn last night with Paparazzi, Mics, The Fugue and some band with Dolphins in their name. And in keeping with the theme of this post I snapped pictures too! Only problem is that they are polaroids and I don’t have a scanner available so I guess I’ll just save them for later! Oh yeah, Paparazzi plays NYC again on Monday at the Knitting Factory - Check em out!
