You Can Be A Wesley will be playing at the Khyber on January 9th at 9PM Sharp! (They open so dont be late!) – I threw together the poster above to promote the show a bit around town

Stumbled upon this old file and was really into the image (minus the type which I’ve removed) – I can’t remember what, if anything, this was suppose to be, but it reminds me of a fox!
Last January I began working on a surf film with a good friend of mine Kyle Pahlow…Nearly an entire year later we are finally happy to announce the film is now available on DVD! It has been a ton of hard work and an amazing experience…I hope you’ll find the time to check out the film’s website and learn a bit more about A Pleasant Surprise
A Pleasant Surprise is a 16mm surf film that I’ve been working on since this past January! I can’t believe it has been almost a years worth of work. The DVD has finally gone to press and I can’t wait to see the finished product…It will be a great relief to know that the movie is finally finished. Below is an image from when the film was tentatively named Pleasant Surprises…It was one of the first graphic treatments I experimented with…Keep your eyes peeled for the DVD out soon. Check apleasantsurprisefilm.com for more info!

For a while there I wasn’t sure when I’d get things figured out! Between work and play I couldn’t seem to find the time to tackle my malware infected wordpress installation and square away some server issues…until now! So welcome back…I’m looking forward to continue sharing with everyone! Not only is the blog back working (although a bit of a re-design is in store) but I’ve also launched nickzegel.com which, for the time being, is going to act as my portfolio site! Please have a look nickzegel.com
Deadlines, or at least notes and to-do lists seem to be all to common these days. Its not rare that my desk has 3 or 4 sheets of paper on it that are covered with doodles, phone numbers & to-do lists. This stop-motion video is super cool & is in tune with the deadline theme as of late. Pretty great stuff! (via SuperSpectacularAdventures.com)
The two images below have shown up on nearly every hype hip hot cool snob best blog around the past couple of days…And like I mentioned in my last post it’s boring re-posting things that I’ve seen all over the net, however when a series of painted walls gets people excited I think its worth sharing. As my friend Bill said “It’s sweet…” (Check Bill’s recently launched fun little tumblr blog McRight On! where I actually first saw these images) – More info at any of the many links above!

Just came across this great little promo video for the upcoming show ‘The Must Be The Place’ happening @ the Scion Space Gallery in LA. This may be the first promo video I’ve seen for a hanging art show…and I like the direction. The motion graphics have a great feel and the production & design is on point! If you’re out west make sure not to miss some amazing work from some super talented young artists. More info >>
A friend of mine just returned home from a surf trip just last week and was sharing some action shots with me…and then I saw this shot, one he took with an old film camera. I can’t explain how psyched I was on this shot along with a couple of other film flicks he shot. This feels like it was yanked straight from the pages of Surfer Magazine era 1973…but in fact it was snapped just over a week ago…Enjoy

Check out this IdN Extra 01 featuring artists from around the world who have participated in Cut&Paste competitions over the past couple of years. I’m still so excited to have been a part of Cut&Paste, as it seems to be growing each year. You can see some work of mine inside this beautiful full color 180 page book! I haven’t seen it yet but I recommend grabbing a copy and checking out a sample here!
I can’t honestly say I’m bummed that today is my 24th birthday, however this does mean I’m getting older every day and more crippled with every slam I take while riding my skateboard. I’m psyched! I put together a little image for a party I’m throwing (for myself) tomorrow and was happy with how this quicky turned out (10-15 minutes)…On a side note its pretty damn humbling to be watching King James, who happens to be my age, competing in front of a national audience and making it look so damn easy (sometimes). Cheers to the kids in their 20s pushing the limits! There’s work to be done! Bonus Jam Side Hustle™

And if you were wondering, I found these two photos on ffffound
Well known designer/illustrator Damien Correll has been compiling a number of mixtapes under the title Heard & Not Seen. Just last week I listened through each mix without once wanting to reach for the next track click (and I’ve often got a case of the ADD while listening to music). Good news for you, it is Thursday (the last day before Friday!) and there is a brand new mixtape thanks to Heard & Not Seen, appropriately titled ‘The Big Warm Up’…After a big snow storm and expectations of temperatures hitting 60+ this weekend this is just what your ears need right now! On a side note the art for the mixtapes is just great!
